Creating a RAID configuration on an Intel Gigabyte B660 MOBO

(P.S. cannot boot into Windows 11 once Intel VMD is turned on due to missing drivers, or incorrect install order, VMD needs to be enabled before install of Windows.)

STANDARD RAID 0 CONFIG

Step 1: Figure out what drives you want to use

Step 2: Install drives

Step 3: Load into BIOS and verify the drives are being read

Step 4:  Locate VMD Configuration under the Setting tab and IO Ports, then enable it

Step 5: Under VMD Configuration then disable VMD Global Mapping amd Enable Map this Root Port under VMD

Step 6: Locate  Intel Rapid Storage Technology under Settings tab

Step 7:  Create RAID Volume at desired RAID function

Step 8: Select disks you want to use for RAID (make sure a X is next to them)

Step 9: Set Stripe Block Size to what you want

Step 10: Create Volume

Step 11: Save and Exit BIOS

Step 12: Load into preferred OS

Step 13: Check RAID is in place and then Format and Partition to your heart’s content

Step 14: Ball.

RAID 1 CONFIG

All the steps are the same, but if coming from another version of RAID you must remove the previous array and create a new volume. If selecting RAID 1, when you boot the RAID array must sync with the other drive due to mirroring and will be unable to shut down for as long as the array takes to sync. But we ball.

RAID 10 CONFIG

Same as RAID 0 and 1 but use 4 drives and not 2. Ballout.1
